Using External Numeric Modules
Task:
Create a new External Numeric Module inside of Designer and link the module to a
control object and numeric object inside of Vista to explore its behavior.
Condition:
20 minutes (time limit for student to complete lab)

Steps:
1. Open the
ION Reference
document and find the External Numeric Module
section.
2. Open up the Designer application. Then open the
VIP
node by clicking
File >
Open
and selecting the
VIP.DEFAULT
node from the list of available nodes.
3. Create a new
Grouping Window
inside of the VIP called
External Modules
and
open it up.
4. Find the
External Numeric Module
inside of the Designer toolbox by matching
the picture inside of the ION Reference document to the corresponding picture
inside of the Designer Toolbox. Click and drag a new module onto the screen.
5. Modify the setup registers of the module and change the module label to say
Numeric Module
and the output label to say
Numeric Value.
6.
Send and save
the changes made.
7. Open up Vista, and create a new screen called
External Modules
and link both
a
Numeric Object
and a
Control Object
to this External Numeric module that
was just created in the VIP.
