EDITOR’S LETTER
I’m suddenly super impatient to get
going on some decorating projects
after a marked drop in my motivation
levels towards the end of last year.
There’s plenty on my list, from
snagging jobs to full room makeovers,
but before I’m allowing myself
to focus on these,
there’s something
critical I really
need to tackle first.
Clutter. Seriously,
how does it
accumulate so
quickly?! I yearn
for clear, organised
spaces, but
sometimes it feels
like I’m chasing an impossible dream.
My husband’s answer to having a
good sort out is to chuck stuff up in
the loft (‘out of sight, out of mind’ is
his approach), but that’s now bursting
at the seams and we need to schedule

time to give it a proper clear out.
Because I’m so determined to beat the
clutter, I am extremely partial to
clever organising solutions, large or
small. Our extended shortlist of the
best storage products for each room
(see page 36) doesn’t disappoint, and
more than a few of
these practical and
stylish items have
now been added to
my shopping basket.
I’m fully aware of
the irony of buying
more stuff, in order
to tackle my clutter
problem, but at least
I’m owning it!
I’ve kicked off my organising mission
with my wardrobe, giving it a
really ruthless spring clean (a fitted
wardrobe like the one on page 60 is
the dream), and for now I’m working
hard to maximise the space I’ve got.
