Installation Instructions

-------------------------

All the Amiga frontend images have been saved in Amiga IFF/ILBM format. The image folders/files in the sets are all named in line with Retroplay's WHDLoad files. There are three different Amiga image sets and three PC sets available as described below...

 

The Amiga IFF image sets have all been archived in LHA format to be as compatible as possible with original hardware. The PC archive are just zipped. On a PC you can use multiple archivers such as WinRAR or 7Zip to extract the images. On an Amiga, I would suggest using Directory Opus or equivalent with the LHA archiver in your C: directory.

 

The Launchbox images have been named in accordance to how Launchbox scrapes the files. There is also a second archive that the images have been named in accordance to my Launchbox Tool format. This tool is available as part of my WHDLoad Frontend tools available on EAB.

***Installation***

 

To install you need to copy the igame.iff file into each WHD game folder. If the folders have been kept in the same structure as the original WHDLoad archives, you can just select the image folders and copy them over the WHD folders.

The images have been named the same as the WHDLoad slave files and use "_SCR0" for screen shots, "_SCR1" for covers and "_SCR2" for title screens. The files in this set are organized in the following way...

***Installation***

 

To install the images for TinyLauncher you will need to copy the images to the 'SYS:S/TinyLauncher/Covers' folder on your Workbench disk. To view the images in TinyLauncher, you need to press "C" in the game menu. TinyLauncher only supports ECS/OCS screens, hence the low colour count.

About The Collection

***Image Sources***

 

The cover images were gathered from several sources including HOL, EAB, ExoticA, Retroarch, Open Retro, Moby Games and Google. There are also a couple of hundred that I have created myself. The title and in-game screen captures have all been captured by myself on WinUAE.

 

***Process***

 

To make the base set of covers this is what I did...

 

1. Copied image from the source website to my Windows desktop.

2. If the image needed editing, I loaded it into Paint.Net, resized and made any changes.

3. I then just drop the image onto my UltraMiggy program and it resizes and renames the file and stores it in a data folder as a PNG Image.

  

To make the base set of screen shots this is what I did...

 

1. Ran WinUAE from Ultramiggy and captured a title screen and in-game image.

2. I then just drop the image onto my UltraMiggy program and it resizes and renames the file and stores it in a data folder as a PNG Image.

 

To convert the base image set to other resolutions and colour depths...

 

1. My program processes it's internal database and creates a list of images.

2. It then opens a command prompt and runs NConvert on each image with a preset set of parameters based on each frontend.

3. The script makes NConvert create the folder structure for each format and saves the new image.

4. The archives are then created in WinZip as it has LHA output support.
