USB Flash Update Tool for Windows 7/8/10

Requires driver 0.9612 or higher


This Flash Update Tool will update the internal firmware to the following versions:

Fireface UFX II: USB 22 DSP 14 CC 8

MADIface XT: USB 3/2 191, PCIe 56, DSP 42

MADIface USB: 25

MADIface Pro: 73

OctaMic XTC: USB 47, DSP 26

09/06/2021 Digiface USB: Phones Out optimized for units with new PCB (devices with V14 do not need to be updated).


07/27/2021 ADI-2 DAC:FPGA 66, DSP 41: First update for units with ESS chip: Option Varipitch removed, because no longer needed. All ADI-2 DAC: New option Loopback to USB, see updated manual. CC mode: at sample rate mismatch USB record data will be muted, the USB sample rate shown red in the Status Overview screen.

06/29/2021 ADI-2 Pro v254: In Balanced Phones mode, switching DA filters via NOS could cause sub-sample delay between left and right headphone outputs. V254 includes special re-sync routines and a 0.4 second mute pause on each switch.

04/14/2021 UFX II 22/14/8. Added mute which suppresses click noise when switching Single/Double/Quad speed while input monitoring is active. DURec: improved detection of connected USB devices with corrected error output for unusable devices. RF-64 files smaller than 2 GB can now be played. General: improved display switching when changing volumes on the host. Slightly less acceleration of encoders for better operation. Equalization of the level meter display of the phones levels at mono setting (High/Low).

03/26/2021 ADI-2 DAC DSP 35, ADI-2 Pro FPGA 250 DSP 102. All Pro: improved performance of SRC, headroom reduced to +3 dB. New option 'SRC Gain dig' to preserve digital headroom during USB recording and digital loop-through. Pro and DAC with MRC: Over display in level meters now takes actual headroom into account (+2.5 dB Line/IEM, +1 dB Phones). All DAC: When loading a setup, the current sample rate is not changed.

03/17/2021 Digiface USB: v17 supports new PCBs. Devices with V14 do not need to be updated. ADI-2 DAC FGA 35, ADI-2 Pro FPGA 249: Improved SteadyClock, filter and phase control. SteadyClock?s jitter filter now operates down to 1 Hz instead of about 200 Hz, thus reduces even very low frequency input jitter efficiently.

09/17/2020 ADI-2 Pro updated to 238/98, ADI-2 DAC updated to 34/34. Current peak on power-on reduced. 

04/22/2020 MADIface Pro V 73: Click noise when switching EQ and LC removed.

03/13/2020 Digiface USB updated to 14, UFX II to 20. Digiface USB: SPDIF Channel Status incorrect at Double and Quad Speed. UFX II: Fix for receiving MIDI SysEx, issue limited to macOS. Note: Pro 98 and DAC 34 include no changes, an update from 97/33 is not necessary.

10/14/2019 ADI-2 Pro updated to 213/97, ADI-2 DAC updated to 27/33. Turning any encoder at the unit interrupts AutoDark again. DAC only: pressing one of the three Source buttons twice activates Sopurce Auto.

09/23/2019 ADI-2 Pro updated to 213/96, ADI-2 DAC updated to 27/32. Common changes: Switching EQ On/Off caused EQ band 5 to change its function. The ADAT input could activate De-emphasis for the analog outputs. New pre-mute function for PCM (click suppression on sample rate changes). ADI-2 Pro: Added M/S-Processing option to the Analog Input Settings menu. Added DIM function (Settings menu and Remap Keys). Fixed the internal mute control (broken since v193). After power-off and -on DualVolume mode was reactivated, but the individual volume settings got lost. Phones Out 3/4, Settings, Source: Removed choice USB 3/4 when in Stereo mode. Renamed Hardware/Diagnosis to SPDIF/Remap Keys. Renamed Device Mode to Device Mode/DSD. Renamed Phones <==> Line to Toggle Ph/Line to use the same name everywhere. Fixed the 32 bit clipping module for the analog outputs (Broken since v193). Fixed multiple resets when changing from 16x DSD to 8x DSD (no audible issue). ADI-2 DAC: Optimized the internal mute control. Dim did not work as expected at the Line Out when AutoRef was active. Remote: Command Mono did not work. Command VOL is now fully supported (short click mute). The display could start to flicker when using various commands in a quick, sequential order. Remapping and Remote: DA Filter showed the expected message, but in reality Crossfeed was switched. Reduced DarkScreen timeout when triggered by remote. Renamed Hardware/Diagnosis to Remap Keys/Diagnosis. Renamed Device Mode to Phones/DSD.


07/01/2019 ADI-2 DAC updated to 26/30. Offically supports third party remotes. Fixes display issue when using Balance and Bass/Treble via infrared remote. Fix: State Overview warning Emphasis did not fit the screen. Improved: Warning messages Emphasis and Non-Audio newly referred to inputs optical or coaxial.
 
06/26/2019 ADI-2 Pro updated to 193/94, ADI-2 DAC updated to 26/29. Common changes: Added phones removal to interrupt the AutoDark mode. ADI-2 DAC: The currently loaded EQ Preset stays valid after a reboot (if it wasn't modified). To make ON and OFF messages easier to recognize ON now features a light green background, OFF a light grey one, and OFF and ON are in capital letters to improves readability. Brought back Standby button to interrupt the AutoDark mode. Changed 'DIM' to 'Dim'. ADI-2 Pro: New meter options Pre-FX, Post-FX and Dual now work as expected on the analog inputs in the Global Level Meter screen. Loading a setup that had Basic mode AD/DA and then an Analog input chosen as source required to load the setup two times in a row to activate the analog input. New Remap Keys options Polarity, Crossfeed 1-5 and all DA filters did not work. Amber did not show the intended color change when in DSD mode. A specific setting in combination with Dual Linked Volume (Dual Phones On) caused an invalid Balance value of L850 after reboot.


06/07/2019 ADI-2 Pro updated to 193/93, ADI-2 DAC updated to 26/28. Common changes: Improved AutoDark behaviour. The Dark mode is now interrupted when any phones is plugged-in, by pushing the volume knob and when warning messages are shown. Quickly turning the encoder 1 to change the current channel in the I/O menu caused invalid screen content. Reduced encoder acceleration in various modes (frequency, Q?) for easier adjustment. Copying empty PEQ presets over saved ones now causes a reset of the saved preset which is then marked with 'lin' as 'linear'. Additionally EQ Preset 21, Clear, has been added as fixed linear preset for comparison and to reset others by copying it onto those. Added level meter color 'Amber' (Setup ? Options ? Display ? Meter Color). Added option to select horizontal level meter source between Pre-FX, Post-FX or Dual. Active Mono mode is now shown in the lower taskbar. Added Crossfeed 1-5 and all DA filters to Remap Keys (Setup ? Options ? Hardware/Diagnosis).

Changes for ADI-2 DAC only: Bugfix: since V24 changing VOL no longer deactivated DIM and Mute. DIM is now a fully supported function and therefore available in the I/O menu and remembered by the unit over power-off and -on. New Details Top screen. This version of the Dark Volume screen lists all currently active DSP functions, including the currently loaded PEQ Preset name. New option Mute Line ? Toggle Plugged (Setup ? Options ? Device Mode). Having plugged-in Phones and IEM, switching via long press of the Volume knob now toggles between Line (rear), Phones, IEM, back to Line (rear) and so on. A short press on the Volume knob mutes the outputs. 

Changes for ADI-2 Pro series only: Fixed DA path for proper playback of low level signals (LSB offset as discovered by KSTR). Show Vol Screen Off did not work in Dual Phones mode. Improved behaviour when a channel is in OFF mode. Improved behaviour when Phones states change during power-off. Channel select marker behaviour improved in certain cases.


02/21/2019 Updates USB of UFX II to 19. Fixes two issues in device start: delayed readout of the serial number and too late activation of the CC mode.


02/13/2019 Updates USB of MADIface XT to 191, of MADIface USB to 25. Fixes a compatibility issue (record start) with Asmedia USB controllers.



How to use:

Start fut_mfusb.exe. The program will show you the current revision of your unit, and whether it needs an update or not. If so, then simply press the 'Update' button. A progress bar will indicate when the flash process is finished (Verify Ok).

If more than one unit is installed, all units can be flashed by changing to the next tab and repeating the process.

After the update the unit needs to be reset. This is done by powering down the unit for a few seconds. A reboot of the computer is not necessary.

When the update fails (status: failure), the unit's second BIOS will be used from the next cold boot on (Secure BIOS Technology). Therefore the unit stays fully functional. The flash process should then be tried again on a different computer.
