Path Guiding
Intel's
Open Path Guiding Library
was integrated. (75a6d3abf7)
This feature helps reduce noise in scenes where finding a path to light is difficult for regular path tracing, for example when a room is lit by light coming through a small door crack.
It can be enabled in the Sampling > Path Guiding panel in the render properties. Important light directions are learned over time, improving as more samples are taken. Guiding is supported for surface with diffuse BSDFs and
volumes with isoptropic and anisotropic scattering.
Currently path guiding is only supported for CPU rendering. Support for GPUs will be added in a future version.
