Source CDs: Sunday At The Village Vanguard [XRCD] Waltz For Debby [XRCD] The Complete Village Vanguard Recordings (2003 K2 Master) Except where indicated by the suffix "[CVVR]" all music is taken from the XRCDs. Audience noise (applause, etc) between the music was retained from the original Complete Village Vanguard Recordings (CVVR), and the XRCD versions edited in between as required. There are a few cases where audience noise overlaps a tune's intro on the CVVR version but is not present on the XRCD version (usually the first note or two of Evans's piano). This is due to editing which took place during mastering of the CVVR version. In these cases the intro containing the overlapped applause was retained from the CVVR version and edited to the front of the XRCD. The edits are flawless. No re-sampling or dithering took place during this re-editing project. No overlapping or mixing-together of different sources was done - everything was done by "cut-and-paste" so the integrety of the original waveforms was maintained with bit-for-bit accuracy. In just two cases (Gloria's Step (take 1-interrupted) and All Of You (take 1)) the CVVR version had to be used because XRCD versions do not exist. The XRCD version of "A Few Final Bars" originally appears at the end of "Jade Visions (take 1)." All chatter, intermissions, discussions (including the talking on "A Final Few Bars") are from the CVVR version. Enjoy this new XRCD!
