The following information will allow you to regain a ready condition on a machine
regardless of a servo or spindle alarm, which may be causing a not ready condition.
Lets say you have a milling machine whose x axis is generating an alarm 16 at power up,
but you need to rotate the spindle. Perform the following steps to take the x axis servo
amp out of the MCU control system.

Power down the machine completely
Set the rotary pot on the drive to “F”
Power up the NC

parameter “noAmp” to a one
NOTE:
this parameter was designed to defeat the alarm “Amp Unequipped”
5. Power off/on the NC
6. The machine/NC should come up ready.
Mazak Machines
1. Power down the machine completely
2. Set the rotary pot on the drive to “F”
3. Toggle dip switch 4 on the QX141 board
NOTE:
this switch was designed to defeat the alarm “Amp Unequipped”
4. Power up the NC
5. The machine/NC should come up ready.
This technique can be used in many other variations. Knowing how to do the above
should be enough for you to figure out the other ways to apply this technique. See below
for another way to apply this troubleshooting tool.
Procedure to take servo’s (servo & spindle amp, and power unit) out of communication loop.
1) Go to the main NC controller and disconnect the servo bus link cable
(SH21).
The second slot in the control from the left is where the motion control unit board sits
(QX721). The cable plugs into connector CSH21.
2) Go to the spindle controller (MDS-A-SP----) and disconnect the battery pack, which
plug’s into connector CN1B.

3) Move the battery pack so that you can plug its cable into CSH21 of the QX721 PCB.
4) Power on the machine.
5) Press [ALARM/DGN].
6) Press [PLC-I/F].
7) Type (1001) (
8) Press [INPUT].
9) Press [PARAMETER].
10) The screen that comes up is the “BASE SPEC. PARAM”.
11) Page forwards until you find the parameter “noamp” (on my simulator its on page 5/7
and it is #15).
12) Make this parameter equal to a 1.
13) Power off and on.
14) At power up you should not have any servo/spindle-related problems.
